Uganda’s pursuit of continental honours on home soil will begin with a Group C assignment against Mauritius and Burkina Faso at the Africa AirBadminton Championships Uganda 2026.

The championship, scheduled for 16–19 September 2026 at Aero Beach in Entebbe, will bring together nine nations for four days of continental competition, with Uganda eager to translate home advantage into a strong opening campaign.

The hosts face a compact but potentially demanding group, with just three teams in each pool meaning every match could prove decisive.

Uganda will need to combine consistency with composure if they are to negotiate the group successfully.

Playing at Aero Beach should offer Uganda a valuable advantage, with familiarity with the venue and expected home support adding further motivation to a team carrying the expectations of the host nation.

Group A will feature Benin, Tunisia and Algeria, setting up an intriguing contest between North and West African representatives.

Tunisia and Algeria will face each other in a regional battle, while Benin completes a group that promises a varied test of styles.

Group B pits Egypt, Burundi and Rwanda against each other.

The pairing of Burundi and Rwanda adds an East African dimension, while Egypt brings further continental pedigree to what could be a closely contested pool.

With all three groups containing three nations, there is little margin for error during the opening phase.

Each result will carry significant weight, making disciplined performances and the ability to capitalise on decisive moments crucial.

For Uganda, however, the draw represents more than the identification of three opponents.

It signals the start of the hosts’ continental challenge and places the spotlight firmly on their preparations ahead of a landmark championship on home ground.

The event is also expected to provide an important platform for the continued development and visibility of AirBadminton in Uganda, with Aero Beach in Entebbe set to become the centre of African competition from 16 to 19 September.
