Mbarara City FC have secured a major four-year shirt sponsorship deal with Africa Coffee Park, marking a significant step in the club’s drive to strengthen its financial structures and challenge for Uganda Premier League honours in the 2026/27 season.
The partnership, announced Friday at Twed Tower in Kampala, will see Africa Coffee Park become the club’s main shirt sponsor for the next four years.
Mbarara City were represented at the unveiling by chairman and founder Hon. Mwine Mpaka.
The deal also opens the door to a broader strategic partnership, with Africa Coffee Park set to provide a home for the club as Mbarara City seeks to establish a stronger institutional foundation.
“As Africa Coffee Park, we are happy to be part of this development.
We are looking at how we can develop sports together, and of course, we also want to build a culture of domestic coffee consumption.”
“Africa Coffee Park is also going to provide a home for Mbarara City FC,” said Hillary, who represented Africa Coffee Park.
The partnership comes as the club undertakes a major leadership restructuring.
Mpaka will serve as Board Chairperson/Club President, deputised by Nixon Tusiime, alongside a board comprising Hon. Mwijukye Francis, Hon. Mercy Kanyesigye, Eng. Jackson Byarugaba, Osborn Mushabe, Anita Vicky, Osborn Turyasingura, Benon Akandwanaho, Elone Natumanya Ainebyoona and Kigongo Asuman.
Mbarara City are also preparing for a rebrand ahead of their 10th anniversary on August 25, 2026.
Formed in 2016 through the merger of Citizens FC and Wakiso Town Council FC, the club says it is the only Western Uganda side to have consistently featured in Uganda’s top two tiers over the past decade, including eight UPL seasons.
The club plans to consult stakeholders across Ankole on repositioning the institution as a regional football brand.
Meanwhile, the club is working with the FUFA Licensing Committee to return home after Kakyeka Stadium was converted into an events facility.
Mbarara City currently use Rwamwanja Stadium, but hope to play at Africa Coffee Park Stadium in Rwashamaire, Ntungamo, if approved.
On the pitch, the club has set winning the Uganda Premier League as its season target and recruited Brian Aheebwa, Rogers Mugisha, Ivan Bogere, Eric Tumwine, Iran Musunguizi, Akoragye Hassan, Solomon Okwalinga and Mahad Rashid.
