Hamdan Islamic Secondary School etched their name into history as 2026 Inter Islamic Secondary Schools Association (ISSAU) Netball champions, edging Greenlight Islamic Secondary School–Nansana 12–11 in a gripping, tension-laden final that lived up to its billing.
In a contest defined by intensity, emotional swings, and repeated stoppages due to disputes over umpiring decisions, Hamdan Islamic demonstrated remarkable composure under pressure to secure their maiden ISSAU title.
With both sides locked in a tactical and physical battle, the eventual one-point margin underscored just how finely balanced the encounter was.
The final itself mirrored the broader narrative of Hamdan’s campaign—resilient, imperfect, but ultimately triumphant.
Notably, their only blemish in the tournament came at the hands of the same Greenlight side during the group stage, where they fell 14–10.
That earlier defeat, however, appeared to galvanize Hamdan, who responded with emphatic victories, including dominant wins over Rabiha (28–01), Kampala Islamic (27–01), and TopTimes High School (18–03).
Their semi-final clash against Madinah Islamic proved another stern examination. In a tightly contested affair, Hamdan held firm to grind out a 10–07 victory, booking a rematch with Greenlight in the final.
Greenlight Islamic Secondary School–Nansana, for their part, had looked imperious en route to the final.
They swept through the group stages unbeaten, dispatching Hamdan (14–10), TopTimes (12–02), Kampala Islamic (29–01), and Rabiha (26–01) with authority.
Their semi-final performance further reinforced their credentials, as they comfortably overcame Bilal Islam–Bwaise 15–07.
The tournament itself showcased a blend of emerging talent and competitive parity across the participating schools.
Madinah Islamic, champions in 2023 and 2025, once again demonstrated their pedigree, while Greenlight, winners in 2024, reaffirmed their status as perennial contenders.
Ultimately, however, 2026 belonged to Hamdan Islamic Secondary School.
Their journey—from an early setback to lifting the trophy—epitomizes resilience and competitive growth.
By dethroning recent champions and surviving a high-pressure final, Hamdan have not only claimed their first ISSAU crown but also announced themselves as a formidable force in schools’ netball.
