Baptist High School reaffirmed their supremacy over Kibuli SS, edging the hosts 23–21 in a pulsating final to retain the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Kampala Zone Netball title on Friday, 26th June at Kibuli Secondary School.
In a fiercely contested and high-quality encounter, Baptist once again demonstrated their championship pedigree, holding their nerve in the closing stages to replicate last year’s triumph and secure a remarkable 6th consecutive Kampala crown.
Their road to glory was nothing short of dominant. Drawn in Group A, Baptist High School stamped their authority early, sweeping aside all opposition with emphatic victories.
They dismantled Kitebi SS 54–5, overwhelmed Mengo SS 37–2, and concluded their group campaign with a commanding 38–5 win over Kololo High School.
The knockout rounds followed a similar script. In the quarter-finals, Baptist whitewashed St. Kizito SS 32–7 in a one-sided affair before asserting control against Broadway High School in the semi-finals, cruising to a 29–20 victory to book a place in the final.
Hosts Kibuli SS were equally formidable en route to the final.
They topped Group D with maximum points, recording resounding wins over Chwa II Memorial (36–8), Buziga Islamic (41–2), and Lubiri SS (36–4).
Their momentum carried into the quarter-finals, where they demolished Luzira SS 41–4, before dispatching rivals Kakungulu Memorial 29–15 in the semi-finals to set up a blockbuster showdown with Baptist.
The final lived up to its billing, delivering intensity, tactical discipline, and moments of brilliance.
Baptist’s lethal Goal Shooter, Shivan Nagawa, proved decisive and was deservedly named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) after an outstanding individual campaign.
With this triumph, Baptist High School headlines the list of six Kampala Zone representatives who will compete at the forthcoming USSSA National Championship.
The tournament is scheduled to take place at Sacred Heart Secondary School, Gulu, from 8th to 18th July 2026.
