The 2026 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) National Ball Games II Netball qualifiers have advanced to a compelling quarter-final stage following an action-packed opening day held on Thursday, June 25, at Kibuli Secondary School.

A tournament that began with 15 teams distributed across four groups has already produced clear contenders, with defending champions Baptist High School, hosts Kibuli Secondary School, and the ever-consistent Broadway High School asserting early dominance through commanding group-stage performances.

Baptist High School emerged as one of the most formidable sides, sweeping all their Group A fixtures with emphatic victories.

They dismantled Kitebi SS 54-5, overwhelmed Mengo SS 37-2, and capped their group campaign with a 38-5 triumph over Kololo High School.

Their clinical displays set up a quarter-final encounter against Group B runners-up St. Kizito.

Hosts Kibuli Secondary School were equally ruthless, finishing top of Group D with maximum points.

Their path to the knockout stage included convincing wins over Chwa II Memorial (36-8), Buziga Islamic (41-2), and Lubiri SS (36-4).

They now face a tricky quarter-final tie against Luzira SS, who progressed as runners-up from Group C.

Broadway High School also maintained a perfect record in Group C, registering victories against Luzira SS (19-7), Makerere College School (48-3), and St. Peter’s SS (30-9).

Their reward is a quarter-final showdown with Chwa II Memorial, who finished second in Group D.

The remaining quarter-final fixture will see Group B winners Kakungulu Memorial take on Group A runners-up Kitebi SS in what promises to be a tightly contested encounter.

All quarter-final matches are scheduled for Friday, June 26, at Kibuli Secondary School, with the competition set to progress swiftly to the semi-finals and ultimately the final later the same day.

Beyond the immediate stakes, the tournament carries significant qualification implications.

The top six teams will earn the right to represent the Kampala Zone at the forthcoming National Championships, slated for July 8–18 at Sacred Heart Secondary School in Gulu.
