The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Wakiso District/Zone Netball Qualifiers for Ball Games II burst into life with unprecedented participation, as 36 teams—drawn into six groups of six—commenced battle for the coveted ten national slots.

The opening day belonged to the established powerhouses, who wasted no time asserting their pedigree with commanding performances across multiple fixtures.

Defending champions St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School, Kitende, signaled their intent with a clinical start.

They dispatched Amity Secondary School 23-05 in their opener before delivering a ruthless 62-02 demolition of St. Charles in their second outing.

Their technical bench received a significant boost with the arrival of renowned tactician Coach Charles Sserungaya, who joined the side from Kawanda Secondary School.

Last year’s finalists Buddo Secondary School maintained their upward trajectory, comfortably overcoming Mt. Olive (39-10) and St. Andrew (40-05) to register a perfect start.

St. Noa Girls Secondary School, Zana, were equally imperious, recording emphatic wins over Zana Christian (34-02) and Mehan High School (42-11), underlining their credentials as serious contenders.

Elsewhere, Kawanda Secondary School and Greenlight Islamic Secondary School, Nansana, matched the dominant tone set by their peers.

Kawanda secured convincing victories against Fairway (29-10) and St. Gyavira (44-06), while Greenlight proved equally efficient, brushing aside Wampeewo Ntake (27-05), Abu Aisha (47-05), and Hannah High School, Gayaza (37-08) in a flawless three-game run.

Across the courts, several other fixtures delivered competitive encounters, reflecting both the depth and growing competitiveness of school netball within the district.
