Kyadondo Secondary School, Matugga, continue to cement their growing reputation among secondary school football enthusiasts with commanding performances at the ongoing Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) National Ball Games II Wakiso District U17 boys’ football qualifiers.
At the commencement of the championship in Mwererwe, Matugga, Kyadondo announced their intent in emphatic fashion, registering two wins from two matches on the opening day.
They began their campaign with a composed 2-0 victory over Wampeewo Ntake, courtesy of goals from Gerald Ochen and Mawanda Kizza.
Maintaining their momentum in their second fixture, Kyadondo replicated the same scoreline, overcoming St. Michael International 2-0.
Mawanda Kizza once again found the back of the net, while Arsene Odinga added the second to cap off a flawless start for the Matugga-based side.
Elsewhere, Buddo Secondary School recorded the most resounding victory of the day, dismantling Cityland High School–Matugga in a one-sided encounter.
Prolific forward Ambrose Aboyi led the charge with an impressive four-goal haul, while Rahim Kato, Carrick Richard Sserubiri, Eric Mawanda, and Shafiq Kitimbo each contributed a goal to complete the rout.
In another fixture, Boston High School Entebbe edged Greenlight Islamic Secondary School–Nansana 1-0 in a tightly contested match.
A total of twelve teams, drawn into four groups of three, are competing for top honours in the district qualifiers.
The tournament, which kicked off on Wednesday, June 17, will conclude on Friday, June 19.
The top four teams will secure qualification to the national finals scheduled to take place from July 8 to 18 in Gulu.
