Vipers SC sealed the 2025/26 Uganda Premier League title in emphatic fashion, dispatching Maroons FC 3-0 at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku to secure their eighth league crown.
The Venoms delivered a performance befitting champions—clinical, composed, and decisive at both ends of the pitch.
Goals from Yunus Sentamu, Usama Arafat, and Abdul Karim Watambala ensured maximum points and mathematically confirmed their dominance at the summit.
Vipers wasted no time asserting control. Barely a minute into the contest, Sentamu capitalized on Milton Karisa’s initial effort, reacting quickest in the area to tap home and hand the visitors an immediate advantage.
Maroons attempted a response and nearly restored parity when Ivan Ashaba teed up Marvin Oshaba. However, a crucial goal-line clearance by Kevin Dasyliva denied them what would have been a momentum-shifting equalizer.
The turning point arrived just before halftime. Arafat’s effort, aided by a deflection, wrong-footed the goalkeeper and doubled Vipers’ lead, allowing the visitors to head into the break firmly in command.
Any hopes of a Maroons comeback were effectively extinguished in the second half. A lapse in concentration at the back gifted Watambala possession, and the midfielder made no mistake—driving the ball home to put the result beyond doubt.
Karisa nearly added further gloss late on but squandered a clear chance with only the goalkeeper to beat, firing off target.
The result lifts Vipers to 64 points after 29 matches, an unassailable tally that crowns them deserved champions.
Maroons, meanwhile, remain 10th on 35 points, their inconsistencies once again exposed against elite opposition.
