Kyadondo Secondary School booked their place in the quarterfinals of the ongoing USSSA U20 Boys Football Championship with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Nkoma SS in a tense round of 16 encounter on Saturday.

Played at the Lira Town College playground, the contest lived up to its billing as a closely fought affair, with both sides showing resilience and attacking intent.

However, Kyadondo’s composure in decisive moments ultimately proved the difference.

After an evenly balanced start, Ariene Odinga broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute, giving Kyadondo a deserved lead.

Nkoma SS responded almost immediately, restoring parity just three minutes later through Godfrey Kizza, who capitalized on a lapse in concentration to level matters.

With the game finely poised at 1-1 heading into the second half, Kyadondo returned with renewed purpose.

Their persistence paid off when winger Rafael Masudi calmly converted from the penalty spot, netting what would stand as the decisive goal of the match.

Nkoma SS pushed for an equalizer in the closing stages but were unable to breach Kyadondo’s defense, as the latter held firm to secure progression.

The victory sets up a high-stakes quarterfinal showdown, with Kyadondo SS now scheduled to face reigning champions Buddo SS on Sunday in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.
