Wakiso District champions St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School–Kitende were forced to settle for a hard-fought 1–1 draw against Bukedea Comprehensive Secondary School North in a gripping Group P encounter at the ongoing Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Boys’ Football Championship in Lira City.

In what arguably stood out as the most enthralling fixture of the day, the contest was defined by relentless intensity, heightened emotions, and sustained pressure from both sides.

The fiercely contested duel produced end-to-end action, but was equally punctuated by frequent stoppages stemming from the game’s physical edge.

Bukedea Comprehensive North struck first, with Uthman Kaaya finding the breakthrough in the opening half to hand his side a deserved lead.

Kitende, however, regrouped after the interval and restored parity through Denis Kisiriko, whose well-timed header—20 minutes into the second half—brought the Wakiso giants back on level terms.

The match was not without controversy. A regrettable incident saw Kitende captain Collins Ochata involved in a heavy challenge that left Bukedea’s Mukisa Marcus seriously injured.

Marcus was promptly stretchered off and rushed to hospital, casting a sombre note over an otherwise electrifying encounter.

Both teams now shift focus to their next Group P assignments scheduled for tomorrow.

Kitende face a high-profile clash against Kampala champions Lubiri Secondary School, while Bukedea Comprehensive North will take on Seroma Christian High School.
The ten-day championship, hosted in Lira City, is set to culminate on 19th May 2026, with the top four teams earning qualification to represent Uganda at the Federation of East Africa Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) Games slated for August in Morogoro, Tanzania.
