USSSA unveils hosts for 2026 National Championships

The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) announced the host schools for the 2026 national championships, as revealed during the 43rd Annual General Meeting at Front Page Hotel in Namasuba on Saturday, the 15th November 2025.

Janan Secondary School – Bombo Campus will kick off the events with the Elite Secondary School Games in February, followed by Lira Town School hosting the National Football (U20) Boys Championship in May.

The forthcoming elite championship at Janan Secondary School – Bombo Campus promises to be a spectacular event, featuring a diverse range of sports, including football (girls’ and boys’ categories), netball, rugby 7s, basketball (5X5 and 3X3 formats), handball, and volleyball.

Seroma Christian School in Mukono district will host the National Ball Games I in May and the National Swimming Gala in June.

National Ball Game I event will unite schools from across Uganda to compete in a diverse range of sports, including hockey, badminton, table tennis, basketball 5X5, girls’ football, rugby 15s, and lawn tennis.

Sacred Heart Secondary School in Gulu City will host the National Ball Games II in July.

Ball Games II is poised to be a thrilling event, showcasing an impressive array of 14 sports disciplines.

The programme features rugby 7s, athletics, volleyball, netball, lacrosse, futsal, baseball, football (U15 and U16 categories), DanceSport, beach soccer, mind games, woodball, and basketball 3X3, making it the most comprehensive and action-packed event in the championship’s calendar.

Standby hosts have also been confirmed, with St. Mary’s College Rushoroza (Kabale) backing up the National Boys Football Championship, Ntare School Mbarara for National Ball Games I, and Nyakasura School for National Ball Games II.

The USSSA has also unveiled a projected budget of 15.5 billion for the calendar year 2026, underscoring its commitment to promoting sports development in Ugandan schools.
