In a thrilling turn of events, FC Masar, led by Uganda Cranes utility player Phionah Nabulime, has secured a spot in the semi-finals of the CAF Women’s Champions League in Egypt.

Nabulime featured for the full 90 minutes in her side’s 1-1 draw against USFAS Bamako Women from Mali, a result that sent FC Masar through to the last four.

The match was a dramatic affair, with USFAS Bamako taking the lead through Oumou Kone’s 10th-minute goal.

However, FC Masar’s determination paid off in the 95th minute when Farah El Mahdy equalized, securing a vital point that sent them through to the semi-finals.

Nabulime’s achievement marks a notable milestone, as she becomes the third Ugandan player to reach this feat, following in the footsteps of defenders Aisha Nantongo and Shadia Nankya, who accomplished the same feat with the same club in the previous season.

The Mali side had been reduced to 10 players after Djouma Kamate’s sending off two minutes before halftime.

Nabulime has been instrumental in FC Masar’s progress, playing full-time in all three group matches, including a 5-0 thrashing of 15 De Agosto Women and a goalless draw against FAR Rabat.

Her performances have been outstanding, and she will be looking to inspire her side to further success in the semi-finals.

FC Masar will face ASEC Mimosas Women, who topped Group B with seven points from three matches, in the semi-finals.

ASEC Mimosas Women are making their debut in the CAF Women’s Champions League, but FC Masar will be looking to make history and reach the final.

A win for FC Masar would make Nabulime the first female Ugandan player to play in the CAF Women’s Champions League final.

Last year’s tournament saw Aisha Nantongo and Nankya Shadia feature for FC Masar and be named in the Best XI team, and Nabulime will be looking to join their ranks.

Semi-Final Matchups:

– FC Masar Vs ASEC Mimosas Women

– TP Mazembe (DR Congo) Vs FAR Rabat
