In a thrilling conclusion to the 2025 National Basketball League (NBL) Playoffs, Namuwongo Blazers and JKL Lady Dolphins emerged champions in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively, marking a turning point in Ugandan basketball.

Namuwongo Blazers’ 68-55 win over City Oilers in game six of the best-of-seven series was a testament to the team’s resilience and determination.

Led by Joel Lukoji, the Blazers’ triumph marked the dawn of a new era in Ugandan basketball, ending City Oilers’ 12-year reign.

In the women’s division, JKL Lady Dolphins reclaimed their dominance with a 69-68 victory over JT Lady Jaguars, securing their fifth national title.

Hope Akello, the phenomenal leader, was crowned Playoffs MVP for a record fourth consecutive time.
