2025 UMEA Solidarity Games get underway with exciting Group Draws

The 2025 UMEA Solidarity Games have officially kicked off with the arrival of teams and the highly anticipated group draws.

The tournament, set to take place from tomorrow until Monday, April 21st, promises to be an exhilarating celebration of sportsmanship and friendly competition among over 100 secondary schools.

The group draws have thrown up some intriguing matchups, with defending champions Kibuli Secondary School pitted in Group D alongside Central College, Masaka Islamic, and Busiika Muslim.

Meanwhile, holders Masaka Secondary School will face stiff competition in Group A, where they will be up against Kasawo SS and Nakaswa.

Other notable groups include Group H, which features 2023 champions Kawempe Muslim Secondary School, Kasana Vocational, Mbogo Mixed, and Late Comer 2.

The tournament will feature a range of sports disciplines, including football, netball, volleyball, handball, basketball, badminton, table tennis, chess, and Scrabble.

This year’s edition will also see the introduction of mind games, a new addition to the tournament.

With the group draws in place, the stage is set for an exciting competition that promises to showcase the best of secondary school sports in Uganda.

Here are the full group draws:

Group A (Ssaza Grounds): Masaka SS, Kasawo SS, Nakaswa, Late Comer 4

Group B (Mugema playground): Bulo Parents, Kigumba, Mende Kalema, Late Comer 5

Group C (Ndeeba playground): Kakungulu Memorial, Nateete, Bukoyo, Late Comer 3.

Group D (Lion of Judah playground): Kibuli SS, Central College, Masaka Islamic, Busiika Muslim

Group E (Kiwangula Grounds): Kyadondo SS, Kasawo Islamic, Kisasi College, Sseke SS

Group F (Namulanda Grounds): Kawanda SS, Lweru, Wamatovu, Late Comer 6

Group G (Namagabi playground): Namagabi SS, Alinga SS, Kyantamba, Nkoma SS
Group H (Yale Grounds): Kawempe Muslim Sec, Kasana Vocational, Mbogo Mixed, Late Comer 2
