All roads lead to Namagabi Secondary School in Kayunga as the highly anticipated 2025 UMEA Solidarity Games kick off today, Thursday, April 17th.

The games will officially commence tomorrow and run until Monday, April 21st, featuring over 100 secondary schools in a celebration of sportsmanship and friendly competition.

Host Headteacher, Yusuf Kasirye, expressed the school’s readiness to host and compete, highlighting the benefits of staging the event. “As hosts, these Games will improve our brand visibility both locally and internationally, and we are excited to witness a successful completion of the event.

The school has upgraded its sports infrastructure, including volleyball, basketball, and football fields, which will benefit Namagabi’s teams long after the games conclude”. He added.

This year’s edition promises to be an exciting one, with the introduction of mind games, a new addition to the tournament.

The UMEA Solidarity Games will feature a range of sports disciplines, including football, Netball, volleyball, Handball, Basketball, Badminton, Table Tennis, chess and Scrabble

Kibuli Secondary School, the defending champion, will look to retain its title after emerging as the overall winner of the previous edition.

With its rich history and commitment to promoting friendship and relationships among Muslim schools, the UMEA Solidarity Games are set to be an unforgettable experience for all participants.
