The 2025 UMEA Solidarity Games Netball draws have been unveiled, setting the stage for an exciting tournament that throws off today at Namagabi Secondary School in Kayunga.

Twenty-nine teams have been divided into five groups of six and one group of four, promising a thrilling competition that will culminate on Monday, April 21st.

Tournament favorites Greenlight Islamic Secondary School-Nansana have been pitted in Group E, alongside Nankabirwa SS, Wamatovu, Kakungulu Memorial, Bulo Parents, and Nakifuma Modern.

Meanwhile, defending champions Kawanda SS will begin their title defense in Group A, competing against Nateete Muslim, Hamdan Girls, Masaka SS, and Kinaawa High School.

Kawanda SS has undergone significant changes since last year’s tournament, losing several experienced players to top teams like St. Mary’s-Kitende and Buddo SS.

However, they still boast a strong squad and will be looking to retain their title.

Other strong contenders in the tournament include Ngando SS, Gombe, Kibuli, and Masaka-based Kaddugala SS.

The tournament promises to be an exciting showcase of netball talent, with teams vying for supremacy in a celebration of sportsmanship and friendly competition.

Group A: Kawanda SS, Nateete Muslim, Hamdan Girls, Masaka SS, Kinaawa High

Group B: Ngando SS, Amity SS, Gombe SS, Bilal Islamic, Matugga Mixed, Kisaasi Muslim

Group C: Kibuli SS, Aringa SS, Kyantamba, Kasana Vocational, Busiika Muslim, Namagabi SS

Group D: Kaddugala SS, Kasawo SS, Namagabi High School, Sseke SS, Nkoma SS, Hamdan Islamic

Group E: Greenlight Islamic, Nankabirwa SS, Wamatovu, Kakungulu Memorial, Bulo Parents, Nakifuma Modern
