The Lugogo Indoor Arena is abuzz with excitement as the Uganda International Challenge Badminton Championship officially commenced on, Wednesday, February 19, 2025.

This prestigious tournament has drawn top players from 30 countries, all vying for crucial points towards qualification for the USA 2028 Olympic Games.

As the second Olympic qualifying event on the African continent this year, the stakes are high for athletes striving to secure their spots on the global stage.

With the qualification window closing on April 28, 2027, every match counts, and the competition is expected to be fierce.

Uganda’s badminton sensations, including Husina Kobugabe, Gladys Mbabazi, and Tracy Naluwooza, led by Fadilah Shamika, are hopeful of earning valuable qualification points.

Although the men’s competition is particularly tough, all Ugandan players still have a fighting chance to make their mark in the tournament.

The Uganda International Badminton Challenge will run until Sunday, February 23, 2025, promising thrilling matches and intense competition as players battle for Olympic qualification points.
