The Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 32 continued to produce surprises, with Regional League side Total Football Club eliminating Uganda Premier League outfit Express FC with a narrow 1-0 victory at Swinga Stadium in Yumbe.

The solitary goal secured Total FC’s progression to the Round of 16, leaving Express FC to lament their third consecutive defeat in just seven days.

Express FC’s setback makes them the second Uganda Premier League side to be eliminated from this year’s competition, following Mbale Heroes’ exit in the Round of 64.

The Red Eagles had previously lost two of their opening second-round league games, and this defeat adds to their woes.

In another thrilling encounter, Rwenzori Lions edged Buhimba Saints United on penalties to advance to the Round of 16.

The match played in Kasese ended goalless after normal time, with Rwenzori prevailing 4-3 in the penalty shootout.

Reigning Uganda Premier League champions SC Villa also progressed to the next round, courtesy of a second-half strike from Aslam Ssemakula, which secured a 1-0 victory over Simba FC.

The Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 32 action continues on Thursday with three more matches:

Kitara visits CATDA, Kaaro Karungi hosts Busia Young, and Vipers welcomes Mbarara City at St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende in the late kick-off.
