The 3rd edition of the CAVB Zone V Club Championship is set to make history with a record number of entries from across the region.

A total of 20 teams have already confirmed their participation in the event, which will take place at the Lugogo Indoor stadium in Kampala, Uganda, from February 26th to March 4th, 2025.

Zone V comprises 12 countries, including Burundi, Egypt, South Sudan, Sudan, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Eritrea, Somalia, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.

The championship promises to be an exciting display of volleyball talent from the region.

According to Joseph Odong, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee,“I want to thank the Government of Uganda through NCS for giving us the opportunity to host. We are ready to give the fans a memorable experience during the 6-day event.”

This championship marks the first major volleyball event to be held in Kampala since Sadik Nasiwu, President of the Uganda Volleyball Federation, took office in November 2024.

Nasiwu, who also serves as President of CAVB Zone V, emphasized the importance of hosting a cost-friendly event that provides maximum exposure for athletes in the region.

The championship will feature a non-stop double-gender event, running from 10 am to midnight, with matches taking place at both the Lugogo Indoor stadium and the Ok’la Sports arena.

Innocent Komakech, Referee Delegate, highlighted the legacy program for the event, which includes involving national referees as scorers and court managers, as officiation is limited to international referees.
