Kitara FC off to Libya for Al Hilal Benghazi SC CAF Confederations Cup tie

Uganda’s representatives to the CAF Confederation Cup Kitara FC have this morning flown to Libya for their Preliminary round first leg against Al Hilal Benghazi SC.

Kitara will face Al Hilal Benghazi on Friday 16th August in Benghazi, Libya.

Coach Brian Ssenyonjo named a squad of 20 players to use during the two games in Libya.

Farouk Yawe, Chripus Kusiima, Denis Omedi, Brian Aheebwa, Jude Ssemugabi, Frank Tumwesigye, George Senkaaba, Erick Muber, Paddy Muhumuza, Maxwell Owachgiu, Jasper Aheebwa, Arthur Kiggundu, Kabon Living, Solomon Okwalinga, Benjamin Nyakoojo, Ronald Otti, Titus Ssematimba, Marvin Nyanzi and David Ndihabwe are the 20 players that have travelled.

Assistant coaches David Bbale, Hamza Muwonge, Issa Serwanja and media officer Sharon Aceng have also traveled with the team.

The Royal left Entebbe International Airport the wee hours of Monday aboard Egypt Air and will have a stop over in Cairo, Egypt before continuing to Benghazi, Libya.

Issa Magola is the leader of delegation while club President Deo Kasozi and CEO Joshua Atugonza are also part of the travelling contingent.

To represent Uganda, Kitara FC won the Stanbic Uganda Cup last season.

Kitara won their first ever major silverware after defeating NEC 1-0 in the final played at Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku.

Second half substitute Solomon Okwalinga scored the winner in the 73rd minute to hand the Royals the win.
