The 17 time league champions SC Villa will be out for the first time in 19 years to compete in the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League against Ethiopian Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE).

The first leg of preliminary round tie against Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) will be held on Saturday, the 17th August at Mandela National Stadium – Namboole.

While addressing the media at Mandela Group offices in Industrial Area, head coach Morley Byekwaso Ochama expects a good show based on the team’s FUFA Super 8 performance.

“The super 8 games were preparatory games. We wanted to see how good our team is.

We have been struggling to take away chances and currently we are rectifying that after our exit from the super 8.

Our experience is minimal, but we are confident of what we currently have in stock.

CBE is a very good side because they know how to use the ball in tight areas where we have to work too hard to press them out”.

Under Morley Byekwaso, SC Villa have suffered three competitive losses in a row out of three attempts.

Two competitive defeats came against the Uganda Cranes Select team in the ongoing FUFA Super 8 tournament and one over NEC FC.

Tickets for the TotolEnergies CAF Champions League game will go for 50,000 and 100,000 for ordinary and VIP respectively. These tickets will only be sold at City Oil outlets.

CBE will touch base at Entebbe airport aboard Ethiopia airlines on Thursday, the 16th August.

The tickets will hit market this Wednesday, the 14th . The referees for the game are from Zambia while the match commissioner is from Djibouti.

There will be an unveiling event for the new additions to the squad to replace and fill gaps of those who departed.

At the end of the season, a host of players including captain Kenneth Ssemakula, Gavin Kizito Mungeri, Joseph Kafumbe, umar Lutalo, Hamza Mulambuzi and Abasi Kyeyune all left the club.
