St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School – Kitende basketball team captain Christine Saimah is confident her side will sweep everything there for grabs at the forthcoming Federation of East African Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) Games.

The outspoken captain was reflecting onto their performance in Soroti, where they settled for a bronze medal in 3X3 basketball at the recently concluded USSSA Ball Games II at Teso College Aleot.

“Yes, we performed poorly, we lost to Nabisunsa in 3X3 semi-finals in Soroti.

We concede that we made a number of mistakes and yes we’re here to rectify the mistakes that we did.

As a senior six student who is leaving high school, I am going to Bukedea to win both trophies, 5X5 and 3X3.” Saimah Christine, St Mary’s Kitende basketball captain said.

Saimah further said that, “Buddo or any other school has never been a challenge to us apart from St Noa Girls.

We do not fear any school in East Africa but the side that we always want to beat is St Noa Girls.

They (St Noa) are the only the close competitor we have ever had. ” Saimah revealed.

St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School – Kitende had a build up match against JKL Lady Dolphins on Saturday, the 3rd August 2024 against National Basketball League (NBL) side JKL Dolphins at YMCA, Wandegeya.

JKL Dolphins won 57-31. This was their second build up match. In the first game, St. Mary’s Kitende lost 76-68 to KIU Rangers in Kansanga.

Kitende are the reigning Fresh Dairy Games girls basketball champions. They won 30-33 against St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana in the finals at Ndejje SS in Luweero earlier this year.

St Mary’s Kitende first lifted the FEASSA title in 2015 and in the last ten years they have managed to win five 5X5 and two 3X3 titles.

This year’s FEASSSA championship will start on 16th-24th August 2024.

Bukedea Comprehensive School and Amus College School in Bukedea are co-host to this year’s edition.
