Walukuba Babarians, Avengers win Kabaka Coronation Rugby 7s Cup
Walukuba Babarians  and Avengers are the 2024 Kabaka Coronation Rugby 7s championship in men and women categories respectively. Walukuba Babarians  and Avengers are the 2024 Kabaka Coronation Rugby 7s championship in men and women categories respectively.

Organized annually in commemoration of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi Kimera II Coronation day, the 5th edition of the Rugby tournament was held at Muteesa II Stadium Wankulukuku on Saturday, the 3rd August.

Walukuba Babarians won 12-07 against Life Guard Rams while Avengers beat Lady Pacers 07-05 in the final to be crowned champions.

A total of ten teams took part in this year’s edition. Seven and three were men and women respectively.

Kobs, Walukuba Babarians, Pirates, Life Guard Rams, Busiro, Buffaloes, Mongers were the men’s side

Meanwhile, Avengers, Lady Pacers, Ewes are the three women teams that featured at this year’s tournament.

The men’s champion (Walukuba Babarians) smiled home with UGX. 5,000,000, 2nd placed Rams pocketed 2,500,000 while Pirates who ranked third walked away with 1,500,000.

The women’s champion Avengers earned UGX. 2,000,000. Lady Pacers walked away with 1,500,000 for finishing 2nd while the third placed Ewes pocketed 800,000/.

In the women category, Avengers’ Fazirah Namukwaya was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) as Francis Ankunda (Rams) won the same in men.

Representing the Katikiro, the Chief Guest was Buganda minister for Youth, Sports and Arts Ssalongo Robert Sserwanga.

The finals were also graced by Prince David Wassajja. He (Prince David Wassajja) also doubles as the patron Uganda Rugby Union (URU).
