FUFA Super 8: Lame start for SC Villa under Byekwaso, Kitara continues dominance over KCCA FC

The Brian Ssenyondo coached Kitara FC have continued their dominance over the 13 time Uganda Premier League champions KCCA FC with a 1-0 win in a FUFA Super 8 duel.

The quarter-final first leg was held under floodlights on Saturday evening, the 3rd August 2024 at Philip Omond Stadium in Lugogo, Kampala.

Denis Omedi scored the winning goal as Kitara overcame a dominant KCCA FC. The win became Kitara FC’s third in a row over KCCA.

Omedi scored the only goal of the game in the 26th minute after the Royals stole possession inside KCCA half.

In this very tie, new signings Ronald Otti, Fred Amaku and David Ndihabwe were handed their debut in Kitara colors.

In the second and last game played on the evening, Uganda Cranes Select came from behind to beat SC Villa 2-1.

Arnold Odong sent the Jogoos into a 1-0 lead in the 26th . However, celebrations were short lived as Isaac Owgang equalized for the Cranes Select side three minutes later.

Godfrey Ssekibengo (URA FC) scored the winner for Cranes Select in the 79th minute as his side took the first leg advantage.

This was Morley Byekwaso’s first competitive match as interim head coach in charge of the Jogoos since the departure of Dusan Stajanovic.

The teams face each other on Wednesday, 7th August 2024 at the Omondi Stadium for the Round 1 Second Leg.
