Uganda Cricket Cranes is flagged off to West-Indies ahead of the 2024 International Cricket Council (ICC) T20 World Cup slated for early June.

The team is comprised of 15 players and two reserves, eleven officials including the media officer will leave the country on the wee hours of Wednesday.

Brian Masaba will captain the Cricket Cranes at their maiden appearance.

“We would like to thank UCA management for the support. Our preparations have been the best ever.

We are ranked 22nd , just behind Papua New Guinea at 20th .

Many see this as the game we should target, but we aim to make a mark even against test-playing nations.

Expect us to script a fairlytale and some players to secure opportunities in the world’s biggest leagues. That’s the plan”. Captain Masaba.

The team will acclimatize the Caribbean playing two warm up games against Namibia and Scotland on 28th and 30th May before the championship ball-off on 3rd June.

State Minister for Sports Peter Owgang accompanied by National Council of Sports (NCS) General Secretary Bernard Ogwel, David Katende the NCS Assistant General Secretary in charge of Technical among others flagged off the team.

The event was held on Tuesday, the 21st May 2024 at Copper Chimney Restaurant in Lugogo.

 Brian Masaba ©, Riazat Ali Shah (vc), Kenneth Waiswa, Dinesh Nakrani, Frank Nsubuga, Ronak Patel, Roger Mukasa, Cosmas Kyewuta, Bilal Hassun, Fred Achelam, Robinson Obuya, Simon Ssesazi, Henry Ssenyondo, Alpesh Ramjani and Juma Miyaji. Reserve players: Ronald Lutaaya and Innocent Mwebaze.
