In a thrilling Uganda Premier League encounter at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, Vipers SC returned to winning ways with a resounding 5-1 thrashing of UPDF on Tuesday evening.

The hosts struck early through Milton Karisa, who tapped home from close range in the 33rd minute after Allan Okello’s clever setup and Gusto Mulongo’s accidental deflection.

Mulongo doubled Vipers’ lead just four minutes later, smartly slotting home in a keeper-to-beat situation, set up by Okello’s defence-splitting pass.

UPDF pulled one back through Samuel Ssekamatte’s spectacular free kick effort just before halftime, but Vipers responded with a third goal, Mulongo nodding home Usama Arafat’s delivery at the top of the first half.

The second half saw Vipers extend their lead through Robin Kane Hney’s stunning strike from distance, leaving goalkeeper Abdul Kimera stranded.

Moses Waiswa sealed the win with an easy goal, his chilly effort going in-between Kimera’s legs – an early Christmas gift for the striker.

The victory lifts Vipers to third place on the log with 16 points from six games, while UPDF slip to 14th with six points from eight games.

Vipers SC returns to action on Friday, hosting NEC at Phillip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.
