The Uganda Premier League enters matchday three on Wednesday with two fixtures, headlined by a fierce Kampala derby between SC Villa and Express at Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.

With both sides coming off victories, the traditional rivals meet in buoyant mood in a contest where bragging rights could prove as significant as the three points.

SC Villa edged URA 1-0 away from home in their previous outing, while Express produced one of the weekend’s notable results by dispatching KCCA 2-0 at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.

The Jogoos will draw confidence from their recent dominance of the fixture, having recorded 15 victories against Express’ seven, with six meetings ending in stalemates.

The encounter also carries an intriguing subplot, with Express head coach Morley Byekwaso returning to face a club where he previously served both as a player and coach.

Villa, meanwhile, are under the guidance of Serbian coach Zeljko Kovacevic.

Villa will look to Frank Ssebuufu, Reagan Mpande and Patrick Kakande for the creativity and cutting edge required to breach the Red Eagles’ defence.

Express, on the other hand, will bank on Isaac Wagoina, Steven Yiga, Alpha Ssali and Henry Wamala to maintain their attacking threat and add to the momentum generated by their victory over KCCA.

At Hamz Stadium, Entebbe UPPC will seek to preserve their flawless start to life in the top flight when they take on Lugazi at 4pm.

The Printers opened their campaign with a comeback victory over UPDF and will be eager to maintain their winning momentum.

Lugazi, however, will arrive determined to respond after suffering a 3-1 defeat to NEC in their previous league outing.

Tuesday’s action saw BUL cruise past Ntugasaze 4-1, while Kigezi HomeBoyz held KCCA to a goalless draw.

Blacks Power maintained their perfect start to the campaign with a 2-1 victory over Maroons.
