USSSA Kampala Zonal Qualifiers: Caltec Academy, Baptist, Kibuli outshine others

The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Kampala zonal qualifiers for the 2025 Ball Games II finals in Tororo District came to a close on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Kibuli SS.

The day was filled with exciting matches and impressive performances from the participating schools.

Football

In the boys’ football U16 final, Caltec Academy Makerere made history by lifting their maiden title after a 1-0 victory over Kawempe Muslim SS.

Both finalists have qualified for the finals in Tororo, marking a significant achievement for the two schools.

Netball

Baptist High School continued their dominance in Netball, defending their trophy and qualifying as regional champions after a thrilling 24-23 win over the hosts, Kibuli SS.

The Kampala Region will be represented by six schools in Netball: Baptist High School, Kibuli SS, Kakungulu Memorial, Broadway High School – Kawempe, Lubiri SS, and Mengo SS.

Volleyball

Kibuli SS emerged victorious in the Volleyball boys’ trophy, beating Kyambogo College School in the final.

Nabisunsa Girls defended their title with a 3-0 victory against Rubaga Girls.

Handball

Kibuli SS won the Handball girls’ trophy, while Mengo SS took the boys’ category.

Mind Games

St Andrew Kaggwa Gombe High School Kawaala dominated the chess competition, winning both the boys’ and girls’ categories.

Makerere College School claimed the Scrabble trophy.

The winners of the various categories are as follows:

Football boys U16: Caltec Academy Makerere

Football boys U14: Kakungulu Memorial

Handball: Boys – Lubiri SS, Girls – Kibuli SS

Volleyball: Boys – Kibuli SS, Girls – Nabisunsa Girls

Netball: Baptist High School

Basketball 3×3: Girls – Nabisunsa Girls

Chess: Girls – St Andrew Kaggwa Gombe High School, Boys – St Andrew Kaggwa Gombe High School

Scrabble: Makerere College School

The winners will now proceed to the national finals in Tororo District, representing the Kampala Region in their respective categories.
