USSSA bans St. Andrews Gombe, Royal Giants, six coaches for two years

In their efforts to uphold integrity in school competitions, Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) have this afternoon banned two schools and six officials for two years.

The decisive action came after serious violations of match schedules during the USSSA Ball Games II and Mind Games held at Teso College Aloet, Soroti City from 1st to 6th September 2024.

Royal Giant High School and St. Andrews High School Gombe have been dismissed and officially banned from future participation.

“You U15 Football team adamantly refused to honor a scheduled football match against St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende leading to broader organizational repercussions to organizers and our broadcasters.

  1. Your team is hereby forthwith dismissed from this year’s championship.
  2. Your School is banned from USSSA organized football competitions at all levels for a period of two years.
  3. The following officials are also hereby banned from all USSSA organized football Tournaments at all levels for a period of two years.
    • Kireewa Maato Head Coach
    • Mwanje Gerald Asst. Coach
    • Masembe Adam Goal Keeping Coach

NB Your school is strongly advised to exclude the above officials from School

Sports Activities during that period failure of which may attract further sanctions

In addition, six team officials from both schools face the same sanctions, with strict instructions for the schools to exclude these individuals from all school sports activities during the period of the ban.

Head coach Frank Mulindwa, Tony Mutebi and Godfrey Jjuuko are the Royal Giants High School Mityana’s officials banned.

Citations : USSSA Competition rules Article 13.

Meanwhile, Kireewa Maato (Head Coach), Mwanje Gerald (Assistant Coach) and Masembe Adam (Goalkeeping Coach) of St. Andrews High School Gombe were also banned.

The disciplinary committee referenced violations under USSSA Competitions Rule Article 13, as well as FIFA’s regulations on match-fixing and malpractice, to justify these actions.

This decision reflects the commitment to upholding integrity in school competitions under USSSA.
