Wakiso Giants got their first win of the season after seeing off visiting Blacks Power at Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium, Wakiso.

Norman Ogik and Titus Ssematimba scored the goals for the Purple Sharks with Michael Siwu scoring a late consolation for the visitors.

Coach John Luyinda made four changes with Baker Yunus, Alex Komakech and Mikdad Ssenyonga all starting.

Wakiso Giants showed intent from the first minute but were kept out – Frank Ssebuufu, Ogik and Rahmat Ssenfuka all coming close while skipper Hassan Ssenyonjo was denied by the post after rounding off the goalkeeper.

But the deadlock was finally broken in the 36th minute with Ogik curler find the net after good work by first Kasule and later Ssebuufu who teed him up at the edge of the area.

Ten minutes into the second half, two changes were made with goal scorer Ogik and Mikdad Ssenyonga getting off for Titus Ssematimba and Moses Aliro.

Aliro then made instant impact taking the game to the Blacks Power defence hitting the base of the post before forcing Tonny Kyamera into a decent save.

But Kyamera could do little to deny Ssematimba who inter-play with Kasule opened the visitors defence and slotted home to the relief of the home fans.

There could have more goals for the Purple Sharks but were unfortunate in front of goal.

Tom Masiko and Lawrence Bukenya later came on but the visitors got a late goal through Siwu after a mix up in the defence.

The win lifts Wakiso Giants to seventh position with four points after three games ahead of our next game away to UPDF next week on Tuesday.
