UPL Pilsner Awards: Eric Kambale, Steven Mukwala, Viane Sekajugo shortlisted for May

Express FC forward, that is, the stylish Eric Kambale, Steven Dese Mukwala of URA FC and Wakiso Giants’ Viane Sekajugo have been nominated for May’s Best Player in the UPL Pilsner awards.

Eric Kambale, managed to score eight goals in the six games he played for Express in the month of May, that is, both in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League and the Stanbic Uganda Cup.

All eight goals came from the games played in the league, as he was not on the score sheet when Express and KCCA FC settled for a goalless draw in the first leg of their quarterfinal in the Uganda Cup.

Kambale’s goals came in Express FC’s wins against Police (2-0) at Wankulukuku stadium, then a hat-trick in the 3-2 win away at Kyetume in Nakisunga, before his brace over Kitara in a 4-0 win at home. He was also on target as Express defeated UPDF and Busoga United 1-0 and 4-0 respectively.

URA FC’s forward, Steven Dese Mukwala, who is also shortlisted for the award, scored (4) goals in the five games he featured in the league. He scored a brace as URA defeated UPDF by a 2-1 score line, and was also on the score sheet as URA beat Police and Onduparaka with the same score line, that is, 3-1. His performances have kept URA FC in title contention.

Wakiso Giants’ forward Viane Sekajugo is the other nominee. The purple shark scored a hooping six goals in five games as exhibited in his team’s fine run through May.
The coaches category also has three nominees including Wasswa Bbosa, Douglas Bamweyana and Sam Simbwa are the three nominees of Express FC, Wakiso Giants and URA FC respectively.
Express FC tactician Wasswa Bbosa registered five wins in May to guide his side to the top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier league table.
Whilst, Bamweyana won four and drew once as URA FC’s Sam Simbwa settled for only three wins, a draw and a loss.
