The championship will run from August 5–9 at Hayward Field, bringing together the world’s top rising under-20 talents.

Uganda’s delegation departed from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi following an intensive one-month residential training camp in Kaptagat, Kenya.

The team is dominated by distance specialists, with seven male and four female athletes selected to compete across the 800m, 1500m, 3000m, 5000m, and 3000m steeplechase events.

On the men’s side, Shafiek Murungi will line up in the 800m, while Daniel Chelogo competes in the 1500m.

The 3000m race will feature Abraham Cherotich and Dan Kipyeko, with Michael Kibet and Solomon Andiema taking on the 5000m.

Jeremiah Kwemboi completes the men’s roster in the 3000m steeplechase.

The women’s team is spearheaded by double entrants Charity Cherop and Bantaline Yeko, both set to compete in the 3000m and 5000m.

Felister Chekwemoi and Baskaline Cherotwo will represent Uganda in the 1500m.

The contingent is led by Team Manager Namayo Mawerere, with Immaculate Chemutai serving as Head Coach, assisted by Jimmy Adar, who also doubles as the team physiotherapist.
