The Uganda senior men’s football national team, the Uganda Cranes, has ended the 2025 AFCON qualifiers with a slim 1-0 away win over Congo Brazzaville.

In the last game of Group K, Travis Mutyaba’s second-half goal was enough to seal the victory for Uganda.

After a goalless first half, Denis Omedi started a quick corner in the 52nd minute, finding Travis Mutyaba, who fired the visitors into the lead.

Steven Mukwala who replaced debutant Calvin Kabuye, had an open chance to double the lead late in the game but wasn’t clinical enough.

The narrow victory means Uganda finishes second with 13 points, behind South Africa, who tops Group K with 14 points.

Uganda and South Africa will be among the 24 teams competing in the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, starting on December 21st, 2024, and climaxing on January 18th, 2025.

This will be Uganda’s 8th appearance in the AFCON final tournament, with their last appearance being in 2019, where they were eliminated in the round of 16 by Senegal.
