Uganda Christian University (UCU) have kicked off the University Football League title defense with a 2-0 victory against debutants Victoria University at UCU Grounds, Mukono on Tuesday.

Enoch Sekandi and Isaac Ofoyrwoth scored for UCU to start the 2022 league in style.

Sekandi placed the ball in the back of the net after just ten minutes into the game following a great chemistry from the team to pull off some magic.

The home side continued to command great spells of possession as the crowds chanted in joy and excitement.

After recess, Victoria University tried to press hard for a leveller but fired blanks due to low ball sense in the final third.

Eight minutes passed the top of an hour, speed merchant Isaac Ofoyrwoth went for power as his freekick shook the net to make it two.

Jimmy Mwera’s charges held their nerves tight and managed to scoop three points in the opening game of the tourney.

Victoria University who were playing their first in this competition will have to go back with lessons picked before they face their groupmates Kumi and International University of East Africa (IUEA).
