Kampala, Uganda | 21 September 2026 — Uganda’s digital motorsport landscape is set for a major boost after thinkIT was unveiled as the lead naming and digital sponsor of the 2026 FMU Esports Championship.
The partnership between the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of Uganda (FMU), Motor Sports Association Club (MOSAC) and thinkIT is expected to give the country’s growing rally simulation scene a more structured platform while creating opportunities for young talent to explore motorsport through esports.
The championship, now branded the thinkIT FMU Esports Championship 2026, will run exclusively on WRC rally simulation, under the theme “More Than Gaming – Real Drivers, Virtual Roads, Bigger Dreams.”
The initiative builds on the foundation laid during the 2025 season, which saw sim racer Jua Kali dominate the championship with a perfect 200 points to claim the inaugural title.
Under the new partnership, thinkIT will support the championship with digital systems, branding, visibility and enhanced event delivery as organisers seek to raise the profile and competitiveness of esports motorsport in Uganda.

FMU Esports Coordinator Leon Ssenyange said the partnership would help broaden the reach of digital motorsport while giving young people an avenue into the sport.
“We are excited to grow esports motorsport in Uganda, attract more young fans and create a clear pathway for talent to move into digital motorsport,” Ssenyange said.
Four rounds to determine national champion
The 2026 championship will consist of four rounds, all hosted at Fun Station Hub, Metroplex Naalya in Kampala, with competitors accumulating points towards a national leaderboard.
The opening round will run from 25–27 September, followed by Round Two from 6–8 November, Round Three from 4–6 December, and the Grand Finale from 18–20 December 2026.
The national leaderboard will determine the leading competitors heading into the final round, where Uganda’s top sim rally drivers will battle for championship honours.
The championship is sanctioned by FMU, technically organised by MOSAC, hosted by Dozerbulo Fun Station, and supported by BLACK.
Organisers have adopted “Compete, Connect, Conquer” as the series slogan as they position esports not simply as a gaming platform, but as part of a broader digital motorsport development pathway.
Digital competition opening doors to international motorsport
Uganda’s experience with digital motorsport has already produced competitors capable of progressing onto the international stage.
One of the notable examples is Mohammed Ali Ahmed, who at 19 emerged from the FIA Rally Star Uganda Digital Challenge in 2021 and went on to represent Uganda at the African finals held at Zwartkops Raceway in South Africa from 27–29 May 2022, where he won a silver medal.
At the national selection stage, Ali finished ahead of seven other candidates after recording the fastest time in the digital motorsport talent search at X-Drive Motorsport Simulator Parlour in Kampala.
His winning simulator time of 4 minutes, 40 seconds demonstrated the potential of digital competition to identify and develop rally talent beyond the traditional pathways.
