“It was not an easy season. We have worked hard amidst many challenges until we won,” said an elated Sebuguzi.

“I brought in this car hoping to win a title in the near future. But it has taken us three years to secure a title.”

Sebuguzi’s wait for a fourth crown is finally over, joining Jas Mangat and Charlie Lubega as the drivers with four titles to their names.

The victory also marks Mugambwa’s second consecutive NRC co-driver’s title.

The Shell team, driving a Ford Fiesta Proto, had needed just eight points to secure the championship, but Sebuguzi’s impressive performance earned them more than they needed.

Duncan Mubiru rounded off the year with another impressive victory, while Musa Sseggabwe finished second to seal a first runner-up spot in the championship.

Umar Dauda completed the Kabalega Rally podium in third.

Sebuguzi recalled the Gulu rally as the turning point in the championship, where they finished second and their rivals dropped out, putting them back in the title hunt.

“Many didn’t expect us to perform, but the story changed when we finished second while our rivals dropped out. That put us back on the title,” he said.
