With commanding victories on Saturday, 20th June at Hamz Stadium – Nakivubo, NIC and Prisons Netball Clubs significantly tightened their grip on the 2026 Uganda Netball Super League title race.
In what is increasingly shaping into a compelling three-horse contest, NIC and Prisons reduced the deficit at the summit, each accumulating six points from three successive wins. They now sit just two points behind table leaders KCCA, who have amassed 10 points, albeit having played two more matches.
Prisons delivered a composed and authoritative performance, overcoming UPDF 49–35 to register their third consecutive victory. This followed a narrow 48–44 win over Makindye Weyonje on the opening weekend and an emphatic 69–38 triumph against newcomers Kajjansi Progressive in their second outing.
Meanwhile, NIC exhibited tactical superiority and consistency across all four quarters against Posta, taking them 13–06, 15–09, 12–06 and 9–7 to seal a convincing 49–28 victory. Their earlier fixtures had also produced dominant results, with 53–23 and 47–35 wins over Busia and Weyonje respectively.
At the summit, defending champions KCCA remain the pace-setters with 10 points from five matches. They reinforced their dominance with a commanding 60–35 victory over Busia Greater Lions. Their earlier run includes wins of 60–34, 42–37, 51–34 and 60–43 against UGX Luweero, UCU, UPDF and Canan respectively.
Prisons and NIC occupy second and third positions respectively, level on six points but with two games in hand—an indication that the title race remains delicately poised. UCU sit fourth, also on six points, though having played more matches.
With all three frontrunners maintaining perfect winning records, the championship contest is evolving into a finely balanced duel where marginal gains and consistency will ultimately determine the 2026 champion.
