Netball Uganda convened its first Annual General Assembly at Copper Chimney Restaurant in Lugogo, marking a significant milestone since the new executive took office during the October 26th, 2024, elections.

The assembly, attended by various stakeholders, was a crucial step towards revitalizing the sport and charting a new course for the federation.

The gathering resulted in several key resolutions, including the confirmation of the activity calendar.

Notably, the league is set to resume on April 5th at Nakivubo Stadium, a return to action since 2023 when NIC Netball Club was crowned champions.

Furthermore, the assembly established and confirmed 11 committees to drive the federation’s objectives forward.

These committees encompass a range of areas, including technical, umpires, planning and events, finance and marketing, media and publicity, legal, safety and equipment, safeguarding, medical, athletes, and anti-doping.

A strategic plan developed by corporate planner Ivan Kaleme was also adopted during the assembly.

This comprehensive plan aims to propel Netball Uganda from its current status to a desired state, focusing on sustainable mission, vision, values, and integrity.

To achieve this vision, the federation will prioritize good governance, partnership, resource mobilization, brand visibility, and capital infrastructure development.

In a significant step towards establishing a strong foundation, Netball Uganda President Joycline Ucanda announced that an office space has been secured at the former National Council of Sports (NCS) hostel.

Additionally, the federation has opened an account with EcoBank, marking a crucial step towards financial stability.

The recent resurgence of netball, with sanctioned games played during the Novice and National Rally in Kawanda and Busia, respectively, underscores the federation’s commitment to reviving the sport.

This development comes after a period of dormancy, with the last sanctioned games taking place in 2023.

With these developments, Netball Uganda is poised to make significant strides in promoting the sport and achieving its objectives.
