Defending champions Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC moved to the summit of the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League after edging Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC 2-1 at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, on Matchday Three.

Agnes Nabukenya proved decisive, scoring twice in the first half to hand Kawempe a crucial victory and condemn Uganda Martyrs to their first defeat of the campaign.
The hosts capitalised on their opponents’ defensive lapses to establish a commanding advantage before surviving a spirited second-half comeback.
Uganda Martyrs started brightly, with Brenda Munyana forcing an early corner after Asia Nakibuuka cleared her effort off the line.

Deborah Nanvule also threatened, but Kawempe goalkeeper Juliet Nambuya produced a fine save.
Kawempe gradually settled into the contest, with Latifa Nakasi and captain Shakira Nyinagahirwa missing promising opportunities before Nabukenya broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute, calmly finishing after a defensive error.
The striker doubled her tally at the stroke of half-time, expertly controlling Samali Nakacwa’s long throw-in on her chest before unleashing a superb half-volley to make it 2-0.

Uganda Martyrs coach Edward Kasozi Ssozi responded with attacking changes after the break, introducing Sharon Nabbowa and Maureen Kizza to inject urgency into the visitors’ forward line.
The substitutions nearly paid off immediately when Nabbowa set up Angel Kigongo Auki, whose effort struck the upright.
Kizza later headed narrowly wide before reducing the deficit in the 64th minute, capitalising on a poor clearance by Sharifah Nakimera to lob Nambuya.
Uganda Martyrs pressed for an equaliser, but Kawempe held firm to secure all three points.

Elsewhere, St Noa Girls FC defeated Jinja United 3-0, while She Corporate FC registered an identical victory over She Maroons.
Rines SS beat Amus College 2-1, as Makerere University and KCCA Women, and Lady Doves and URA Ladies, settled for goalless draws.
