Mbarara City’s troubled season has taken a dramatic turn, with the club suspending four players indefinitely for “gross indiscipline”.

The Ankole Lions confirmed the suspension of Kitegenyi Henry, Thembo Ibrahim, Wafula Innocent, and Fahad Emuran, citing their conduct as “unprofessional” and “inconsistent with the values of the club”.

“The club management has decided to impose an indefinite suspension on the four players due to behavior that is deemed unprofessional and inconsistent with the values of the club.

Their actions have compromised the integrity of the team and brought the club’s reputation into question,” the statement read.

Sources indicate the suspension stems from the players’ refusal to participate in matches until their four months’ salary arrears are paid.

This standoff led to Mbarara City fielding only eleven players in their recent goalless draw with Lugazi FC, highlighting the club’s growing internal crisis.

With 11 points, Mbarara City sits in the bottom three of the Uganda Premier League table, facing relegation and an uncertain future.
