After nearly two decades, Mbale Heroes FC sealed Uganda Premier league promotion with a 2-1 win against West Nilers Onduparaka FC.

The FUFA Big League tie was he on Sunday, the 26th May 2024 at Mbale Municipal Stadium.

Shafic Kiberu and Daniel Shabena scored the all important goals for Mbale Heroes whilst James Jarieko grabbed a consolation Onduparaka.

Under tactician Simon Ddungu “aka” Dunga ther promotion confirms they will play topflight football for the first time in 19 years. Mbale was relegated in 2005.

Mbale Heroes finished third on the FUFA Big League table with 49 points.

They joined table leaders Police FC and Lugazi into next season’s Uganda Premier league.

Meanwhile Lugazi FC won 2-0 against Kaaro Karungi to seal promotion at Lugazi Stadium in Mabira Forest.

Sam Ssemugugu and starman Ronald Ssempala scored the two goals for Lugazi.

They are second on the table with 50 points.

Lugazi FC become the first team from Lugazi since SCOUL in 2002 to prevail to the Uganda Premier league.
