Kawempe stuns Kampala Queens to clinch fifth league title

Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC beat Kampala Queens Women Football Club 2-0 to emerge  2023/24 FUFA Super League champions.

The Valley Warriors’ win over Kampala Queens saw them clinch the title on the final day of the season.

The season MVP forward Agnes Nabukenya and super sub Allen Nassazi scored the two goals as Kawempe Muslim won the fifth (5th) league title.

Kampala Queens were immediate title contenders on 36 points just one behind Kawempe Muslim in the first position.

Despite winning the tie, Kawempe Muslim needed a draw to win the title while Kampala Queens on the other hand had to win to defend their crown.

Forward Agnes Nabukenya converted from a well-taken free kick in the 67th minute to send Kawempe Muslim into a 1-0 lead.

Substitute Allen Nassaazi doubled Kawempe’s lead making it 2-0 with a super header.

The win saw  Kawempe Muslim ending the season with 40 points compared to Kampala Queens’ 36.

This is the fifth League title for Kawempe Muslim in history, but their first since the name changed to FUFA Women Super League in 2019.

Custodian Juliet Adeke was the best goalkeeper (13 clean sheets) of the season whilst Agnes Nabukenya was the top scorer (10) and as well as the MVP of the season.
