Lugazi FC’s remarkable resurgence in the second term of the Startimes Uganda Premier League continued this Sunday evening, as they secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over Wakiso Giants at Najjembe.

This triumph marked the debutants’ second consecutive victory, following their recent success against Police FC.

Abdul Kalanzi proved to be the hero once again, scoring the decisive goal from the penalty spot in the 54th minute.

This strike was Kalanzi’s second consecutive match-winner, having also netted the winner against Police FC in a similar fashion.

The victory propelled Lugazi FC to the 10th spot on the league table, with 20 points from 17 matches, opening up a crucial 7-point gap above the relegation zone.

As a result, their chances of survival in the top-flight have received a significant boost.

Meanwhile, Wakiso Giants remained entrenched in the relegation zone, occupying the 14th spot with 13 points.

The “Purple Sharks” will need to regroup and rediscover their form to avoid the drop.

Lugazi FC’s fairytale run, on the other hand, shows no signs of slowing down, as they continue to defy expectations and climb the league table.
