Confederation of African Football (CAF) has has canceled the CAF Confederation Cup game between AS Kigali and KCCA FC

The game was to be played today, the 23rd December 2020 at Stade Kigali, Nyamirambo.

According to KCCA FC official website, the cancellation of the game was confirmed today through Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA).

This was confirmed on Wednesday 23rd December in a letter written to KCCA FC through FUFA the football governing body.

KCCA FC did not have the recommended number of players to have the game take place.

This is because the a number of players tested positive of COVID 19 and could not travel to Kigali Rwanda

According to CAF AFCON organizing committee which is also in line with the FIFA laws of the game, each match must be played if the team has at least 11 players including (GOAL KEEPER) + 4 substitutes.

According to COVID 19 regulations, if a team does not have the minimum number of players (11 players including goal keeper) + 4 substitutes to play a match the team will be considered to have lost the match 2-0.” Partly reads the article on KCCA FC official website.

The decision means AS Kigali have gained a first leg boardroom 2-0 score.

The two sides will face off in the return leg on 6th January 2021 in Kampala.

KCCA FC was minus Head Coach Mike Mutebi and a barrage of senior players who stayed back in Kampala after testing positive to COVID-19, including all its goal keepers.

Custodian and skipper Charles Lukwago, Denis Iguma, Brian Aheebwa ……are the players who missed on today’s tie against AS Kigali.
