In a closely contested match played on a wet and cold evening at Kawempe Muslim Secondary School Playground, Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC secured a slender 1-0 victory over St Noa in the first leg of the 2025 FUFA Women’s Cup semifinals.

The decisive goal was scored by striker Jovia Nakagolo in the 34th minute, who showcased her skill and pace with a beautifully executed shot.

Nakagolo’s moment of brilliance came after she made aa signature run through the right flank, the high line defence of Babrah Anomo and Zainabu Birungi before unleashing a powerful shot that beat goalkeeper Lillian Nakirya.

Earlier in the game, St Noa had an opportunity to score, but Sylvia Kabene’s selfish and reckless shot went wide, leaving Kawempe’s defense relieved.

In the second half, St Noa poured on the pressure, probing Kawempe’s defense with a series of attacks.

Brenda Nassaka came close to scoring with a powerful shot that narrowly sailed over the crossbar, but Kawempe’s defense held firm to deny the visitors an equalizer.

The hard-fought victory means Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC will need to avoid defeat in the return leg on Sunday, June 8, 2025, to secure a spot in the finals.

The 2025 FUFA Women’s Cup final is scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at MTN-Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.

With this win, Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC has taken a crucial step towards the final, and their fans will be eagerly anticipating the return leg.
