World Athletics Association over the weekend approved Uganda’s Joshua Cheptegei 10,000m world record he set in Valencia in October.

Within the space of two months, Uganda’s Joshua Cheptegei  broke two long-standing world records which include the 5,000m on 14th August  in Monaco and  the 10,000m on Wednesday 7th October 2020 night in Valencia.

Cheptegei, 24, broke the previous record of 26:17:53, set by Ethiopian Kenenisa Bekele in 2005, at a special event in Turia stadium, Valencia.

On 26th August 2005, Ethiopian Bekele broke his own 10,000m record to establish a new one of 26:17.53 minutes in the Belgian capital Brussels which stood for 15 years before it was broken by Uganda’s Joshua Cheptegei.
