In a bold move to support the growth and professionalisation of women’s football in Uganda, Finance Trust Bank has released Shs250 million to the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) for the 2025/26 season.

This funding is part of the bank’s ongoing commitment to the Women’s Super League and the Women Elite League, two of the country’s premier football competitions.

This disbursement comes under the five-year sponsorship deal, which sees Finance Trust Bank investing a total of Shs. 2 billion in Uganda’s women’s football.

Each year, the bank contributes Shs. 400 million, with Shs. 250 million allocated directly to the two leagues.

Another Shs. 100 million is earmarked for the Women’s Football Annual Bonanza, while Shs50 million supports other sponsorship-related activities.

Percy Lubega, the bank’s Head of Communications and Marketing, confirmed the release of the funds and emphasised the institution’s unwavering commitment to elevating the status of women’s football in the country.

“This financial support not only aids the leagues but also rewards excellence on the field. We are proud to be contributing to the long-term growth of the game,” Lubega said.

In addition to the league sponsorships, Finance Trust Bank also honours individual excellence with cash awards.

Players who are named Player of the Match receive Shs. 50,000, while the Player of the Month in the Elite League and the Super League are each awarded Shs. 250,000 and Shs. 500,000, respectively.

The Coach of the Month in both leagues is also recognised, with the Elite League coach earning Shs250,000 and the Super League coach receiving Shs500,000.

This initiative marks the second season of the bank’s five-year partnership with FUFA, which continues to provide much-needed financial backing and recognition to Uganda’s women’s football structures.

With these investments, Finance Trust Bank is playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of women’s football in Uganda and beyond.
