Following a successful draw, the 2026 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Boys Football Championship is set to kick off in Lira, with matches scheduled to run from 9th to 19th May.

The draw has produced a balanced yet compelling fixture list, though a few heavyweight clashes are set to arrive much earlier than expected in the group stage—injecting immediate intensity into the tournament.

In Group P, Kampala Zonal champions Lubiri Secondary School face a stern test against Wakiso Zone champions St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende. This high-profile encounter, arguably worthy of a knockout setting, is poised to shape the group standings, likely determining both the winner and runner-up.

The same group also features Greater Mukono representatives Seroma Christian High School and the resilient Bukedea Comprehensive School North—two sides capable of upsetting the established order if underestimated.

Another early headline fixture lies in Group E, where Wakiso finalists Kyadondo Secondary School take on Busoga Zone champions Jinja Progressive Academy. Both teams are widely tipped as potential semi-finalists, and their early meeting adds immediate intrigue to the competition. They are, however, expected to progress ahead of Kigumba Intensive Secondary School and Kalisizo Seed Secondary School.

Defending champions Buddo Secondary School begin their title defence in Group A alongside Kaserem Secondary School, Teso College Aloet, and Masindi Secondary School. Buddo will be keen to assert dominance early as they seek to retain their crown.

Meanwhile, traditional powerhouses St. Mary’s Kitende and Kibuli Secondary School head to Lira aiming to further extend their legacy in the competition’s history. Kitende, in particular, will be motivated to end a two-year title drought.

Across the remaining groups, the tournament promises depth and unpredictability, with regional champions and emerging schools evenly distributed—setting the stage for a fiercely contested championship.

With early high-stakes encounters and a strong field of contenders, the 2026 USSSA Boys Football Championship is primed to deliver drama, quality, and a true test of school football supremacy from the very first whistle.
