The 2026 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) National Ball Games I U17 Netball Championship gathered serious momentum on day two, producing a blend of dominant performances, narrow escapes, and headline-grabbing upsets.

Kawanda Secondary School announced their arrival in emphatic fashion, dismantling Mariam High School with a commanding 45-02 victory to kick-start their campaign in style.

However, the biggest shock of the day came courtesy of tournament newcomers Bukedea Comprehensive School, who stunned Trinity Catholic with an impressive 24-16 triumph.

Despite fielding a notably young squad, Bukedea’s physical presence—particularly their height advantage—signals a team that could trouble even the most established sides as the championship unfolds.

The day was equally rich in tightly contested encounters. Kyantamba Secondary School held their nerve to edge Kyanja High School 19-18 in a thrilling one-goal margin victory, while Light College Katikamu secured a hard-fought 19-16 win over Wamatovu Secondary School in another pulsating clash.

Among the standout teams, Kawanda Secondary School continues to underline its credentials as one of the tournament’s most balanced and experienced sides, firmly positioning themselves as serious contenders.

Fellow Wakiso outfit Kajjansi Progressive Secondary School also reinforced their title ambitions with a dominant 39-07 victory over St. Paul Secondary School, showcasing both attacking efficiency and defensive solidity.

The championship now shifts into an even higher gear, with a packed schedule of 38 fixtures lined up for day three at Our Lady of Africa Secondary School in Mukono.
