Council of East and Central Africa Football Association (CECAFA) has confirmed Zanzibar as the host of this year’s CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup.

Being the flagship competition in the zone contested amongst the senior men’s National teams, the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup will take place in Zanzibar after four years of no action.

The championship is expected to kickoff on 29th June to 14th July 2024. Amaan Stadium and the Pemba Municipal Stadium are the two cleared to host the championship.

Zanzibar is fresh from hosting the CAF Africa Schools football championship and they will host yet another big championship (CECAFA) that was last staged four years ago.

Apart from teams from the zone, some two guest sides yet to be confirmed will take part in the competition.

Uganda are the defending champions having defeated Eritrea in the 2019 final.

Anukani Bright (31st) while Mustafa Kizza and Joel Madondo scored in the second half to clinch the title.
